STE. GENEVIEVE HERALD
Ste. Genevieve aldermen took another look at 2023 paving priorities during last Thursday night’s work session.
City Administrator Happy Welch handed out a chart showing street priorities and estimated costs.
Gegg Street, near Moreau Street, would run $22,212, while Jefferson, from N. Second to Main, would be $24,480. Moreau, near Highway 61, would cost $37,114, and Ninth Street, from Market to Ridgeway, would be $73,794.
In all, 14 streets are listed, totaling $824,944. There is $325,000 in the budget for the street work.
Welch said they still had not received any word on the hoped-for money from the American Relief Plan Act (ARPA), to supplement the street budget.
“If we do ARPA, we figure about $274,000 almost $275,000 to do the streets after we do the waterlines and cap it there’s about $50,909 remaining,” Welch said.
One thing that was quickly agreed upon was that Linn Street, a project left over from 2022, needs to be completed. Ward 4 Alderwoman Ashley Armbruster warned that if it isn’t done soon, the sections of the street that are still good today, will have deteriorated to the point of needing to be redone.
